Frozen Yoghurt

How do you make frozen yoghurt from freshly made yoghurt?

Here's a simple method to make frozen yogurt at home:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Mild or Tangy dairy yogurt
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup (or any sweetener of your choice)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: Fresh or frozen fruit, chocolate chips, nuts, or other mix-ins

Equipment:

  • Food processor or high-powered blender
  • Freezer-safe container

Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients: In your food processor or blender, combine the yogurt, sweetener, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  2. Add Mix-ins (Optional): If you want to add mix-ins, do it now. Pulse a few times to incorporate them evenly.
  3. Freeze: Pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container. Smooth the top to prevent ice crystal formation.
  4. Freeze and Serve: Freeze for at least 4 hours, or overnight for a firmer texture. When ready to serve, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften slightly before scooping.

Tips:

  • Sweetener: Adjust the amount of sweetener to your taste. You can use honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, or sugar.
  • Mix-ins: Get creative with your mix-ins! Fresh or frozen berries, chocolate chips, nuts, cookie crumbs, or fruit purees are all delicious options.
  • Texture: For a firmer texture, freeze the yogurt overnight. For a softer, more sorbet-like texture, freeze for a shorter time.

Enjoy your homemade frozen yogurt! It's a healthier and more customizable alternative to store-bought frozen treats.
